Quick blog! I'm loitering at Mom's and I smell something quite nice-smelling cooking down there. I made this dress last Summer and hardly ever wore it. No idea why because it’s so bright and fun! So easy to make, too. I plan to make several more for the Spring/Summer.

Check out my flickr for more pics from this little shoot in the backyard.

I usually wear the dress alone or with the belt tied just under the bust for an empire look..or on my hips with the dress bloused out over it with skinnies, but today I felt vaguely Alice-Gaga-ish [it’s a legit word, thankyouverymuch] and decided what i really needed was a big floppy bow on my head. It was received quite well at work. I was called a ‘doll’ more than once.

Basically, I’m about sick and tired of the cold. There’s no more snow to play in and I’m [gasp!] getting sick of layering. I just woke up and wanted cotton dresses, colorful sandals and bare effing legs.

Spring, come soon please.

Vintage Wool

One year, while working for the Opera Theatre of St. Louis [going back in May!!], a local lady brought in swathes and swathes of vintage fabric she'd had in her attic since the 60s and 70s. It was a first come, first serve frenzy and I emerged from the melee with several bolts of ugly-beautiful polyester 70s prints and gorgeous vintage wools, like this acid green with chevrons. So, I made this jumper skirt and a high-waisted circle skirt out of it, as well as a bow-tie for my fiancee!

This is what I wore to work on Sunday. I suppose because of the feel of the fabric, the look was retro-inspired in a roundabout way. It was just a tad less chilly than it has been, so I just brought this cable knit cape to keep my shoulders warm. No heels because my feet would've been dead by hour three. An actual good hair day + green/yellow goldfinch necklace that perfectly matches my outfit = joy.

I drug my fiancee in front of the camera for once [she's a photographer] because she was dressed rather adorably as well.

Okay, I've been editing photos and messing around making dinner and talking with random people so now I'm tired and cranky and just want to settle into bed with hot chocolate and queue up a veritable shitload of House episodes on Hulu.

I mean, come on...

I'd let Dr. House poke me any...Okay, too easy.

Also: Mind if I say, WOW?

So, I think I'll also be adding pictures of friends and other random people unfortunate enough to get in the way of my [admittedly sort of crappy and I need a new one] camera...provided they are dressed superbly.

First up? Just one of my many work-girlfriends, Megan. She is very tiny and very cute. She and I share a special love for quoting Mean Girls all day long, in response to any- and everything said to us. At work, the uniform for pretty much all of us lazy slackers is a tee and jeans, but Megan's and my work-girlfriend-mind powers compelled us both to dress up today, so here's what she wore.

See? Tiny and cute.

The tiered skirt is from Hot Topic and the cuuuute lace insert cardigan is from Charlotte Russe.

Just so I don't feel like this post is a total load of crap, I'll stick in a little bit of hair accessory porn. These are both from For Love 21 and I've worn one of them almost every single day since I bought them...the black more than the cream because who really has that much cream in their wardrobe except your Grandmother? Not to say that I don't desperately want to dress like a grandmother, because I definitely do. And yes, I know I look like a friggin' RealDoll in this first picture here...

If an accessory is hilariously huge, I have to have it. If it is also on sale, I will fight your for it. Both of these were under three dollars. This is why For Love 21 is my absolute favorite place to shop for accessories. Cheap and cute are all I need.

Time for the aforementioned House + hot chocolate extravaganza to commence.

Take a good look. Take a photo. Write about it in your tiny notebook.

I'm going to really try and do outfit-a-day posts. I figure this will be interesting and also motivate me to actually wear the 37578493658 articles of clothing I own rather than pulling on skinnies, boots and a v-neck/cardigan combo like I have been all winter.

So, this is what I wore out to run errands with my Mom, aunt and Grandmother today [and by running errands, I mean driving thirty miles to find the place we were going was closed, turning around and coming back home]. I've been wearing my hair this ridiculously for a few months now. It reminds me of Imogen Heap and that's just fine with me. It's definitely on purpose and definitely not because I'm lazy and just throw bobby pins in it randomly in the morning and hope for the best.

black tee: max azria, $3 [!!!]
belt: can't remember, very cheap
cocoon cardigan: Forever XXI, $8.99
teal tights: target, $4
black lace tights: target, $5
dr. marten knock-off boots: wal-mart, $10
purple bow headband: hot topic, $6.99 [set of four]
skirt: thrifted, $4.99
necklace: made by me!

skirt print & tights detail...

The skirt caught my eye at Goodwill and though $4 is a little more than I usually spend for anything at a thrift store, I got it because I'm in lust with the fruity pebbles/church lady print. It was ankle length but I had visions of a bubble hem, so I safety-pinned the bottom up into the waistband at the front back and sides and voila! Instant bubble hem. Try it.

I always wear too much jewelry, much like an old rich lady..except it's mostly plastic and usually devoid of precious gems

l-r
Betsey Johnson resin jeweled bee ring: christmas gift
silver celtic knot ring: gift [never comes off]
resin/shell ring: pier one, $4
nested yellow olive ring: made by me
purple star ring: random beauty supply store, $1
yellow/black watchband bracelet in background: betsey johnson, christmas gift

Alice in Wonderland watch: Betsey Johnson, christmas gift
[notice a trend? Don't you wish you got literally nothing but Betsey Johnson jewelry for christmas? Well, my girlfriend is mine and you can't have her.

Besides the ridiculous amount of VHS tapes I picked up at Goodwill [Indian in the Cupboard! Lost Highway! Hook!], I also grabbed this adorable red/white/blue muumuu sun dress. I am in love with it and plan to hunt down a gold braided belt and sailor hat then wear it all with my red patent peeptoes with rope-covered wedge heels! Perfect cover-up for the sailor-themed swimsuit I've been gearing up to make. Also, this vintage hat. I almost cried when I saw it and snatched it up like my life depended on it. It will perfectly match the black Rodarte slip dress and black lace Rodarte cardigannnnn. yes.

Anyway! That's all for today

Hi. I'm Anjle and I frequently take pictures in public bathroom stalls.

My main interests are fashion, zombies, sewing, blogstalking Tavi Gevinson, make-up, dancing, sleeping...You know, the usual things for a twenty-three-year-old to like. I've recently added to this list the strong urges to both plunge into decorating my new[moved in 6 months ago] apartment and jumpstarting my fashion design business on etsy.

So, come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly awa-

sorry, got caught in a Sinatra k-hole. Anyway. If you like weird hair, weirder clothes, a skewed view on fashion, make-up, hair, crafting, sewing, decorating, and just life in general, read on.

Did I mention pictures? There will be pictures. Of random things...

Like ridiculous hair...
...and shoes.
[Yes, I have You and Me and Everyone We Know tattoos on my feet]
Recently, I have completely scoured Design*Sponge for decorating ideas and came out of it all with an intense urge to make mini terrariums. I went out and got some moss, gorgeous little thrifted glass bottles, a jar, terra cotta pots and a faceted candy dish [we won't talk about the incident involving a two-foot glass vase, a helpful fiancee, a curious cat and the subsequent death of said vase]... I also grabbed some plastic baby doll heads and arms for good measure.

Here's what I came up with:

I also got some fimo and made these little guys to go with the terrariums:

I'm fairly certain I've stolen the idea of potted-teeth-sculptures from someone [Rosalie?]...If so, I obviously loved it and had to be surrounded by tiny potted-teeth. I love teeth. A lot.

Go to my flicker to see several more detailed pics of the teeth and terrariums.

Okay, a few more random things and I think I've rambled enough for one introductory post.

Baby dress I made for my friend Connie's new baby girl Avani:

Hard to tell, but that's one big inverted box pleat with the insert in the front. I love gray/pink and gray/orange color combinations. And also, mod clothes for babies. Down with pastel onesies, I say!

Aaaaand, one big hair picture, to end things with a bang!

Thanks for lookin'!
